The fifth edition of Textbook of Community Medicine fulfills the need for a concise textbook for medical students fully aligned with the competency-based medical education (CBME) curriculum. This textbook ensures a smooth reading experience with clear and straightforward language to explain all concepts. Developed collaboratively by 21 esteemed educators from reputable medical colleges in India, including Deans, Heads of Departments, Professors, and experienced faculty members, the book takes into account the requirements of MBBS as well as competitive examinations. Its goal is to inspire students to apply their knowledge effectively in promoting health, preventing disease, and protecting at-risk populations throughout their professional careers.
Al the chapters have been appropriately revised and updated in accordance with CBME.
All the topics, including policies, programs, procedures, and data have been revised and updated till as recent as May 2023.
Each chapter starts with a mention of the CBME competencies covered as well as a list of the “Specific Learning Objectives” (SLOs).
At the end of each chapter, “problem-based exercises” and “comprehension and analysis-based exercise” along with their answers and reasons have been introduced to help students practice for PG competitive examinations. In addition, recall-based MCQs along with their answers have also been given at the end of each chapter to test the reader's understanding and stimulate discussion of the material.
