The Gastrointestinal and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgical service of the Department of Surgical Oncology of the Tata Memorial Centre has witnessed a number of concepts and protocols for pre-operative work-up of patients for major surgery , has become increasingly demanding and complex. Ever since the introduction of the MCh superspecialty program, the number of senior residents has dramatically increased in recent times . They are expected to play both an exciting and a challenging role during their rotation in this service.
